Meetings of SEA members voted 75% to 25% to settle a new Collective Employment Agreement.
The main points of the new deal are:
New Wages - 5% on paid rates backdated to 1 August 2006. There will be another 4% from 1 August 2007 (with an additional guarantee that if inflation is above 4% on 1 August 2007, SKYCITY will provide a wage increase of 4.5% rather than 4%). The CEA will end 30 June 2008
Lump sum payments - for SEA-Unite waged members who were members on 1 July 2006. The lump sum ‘after tax’ payments will be: Full Time staff - $100, Part Time staff -$50, Casual staff - $30.
Minimum Wage - SKYCITY has increased its minimum pay rate of $11.40 to $12.32 and probation rates will be abolished.
Gaming Licence (COA) - Unfortunately we couldn’t get SKYCITY to agree to pay it now. What they agreed to instead is reimburse you $250 on 1 July 2007. Any remaining amount will be paid on 1 July 2008. All new licensed employees will have their COA reimbursed after completing two years service.
Part Time Clause - The minimum number of hours for part timers will move from 4 hours to 3 hours. This will not apply to existing members unless mutually agreed. Part time employees in their department will be offered additional hours available where appropriate before new staff are employed.
Salaried Staff - A negotiation working party shall meet from next week to continue to review positions to be included and minimum rates and conditions.
Security / Surveillance - Grade 1 Security Officer rate $17.02 (9% increase). Increase will be based on completing 12 months service and passing an agreed qualification. New Security entry level rate $15.00. A working party will be convened to establish phase out of Ambassador position and other security and surveillance matters.
Sick Leave Accumulation - Staff can now accumulate their sick leave to 40 days maximum.
Dry Cleaning - provide dry cleaning of 1 suit per person for gaming and finance supervisors per fortnight until the refurbishment of the main gaming floor where supply of uniforms will be considered.
Rosters - Where an individual employee works a regular pattern of work, SKYCITY will not make any significant changes without good reason and consultation. Any significant changes to a group of employees must be advised to the union prior to these changes being implemented.

TIME FOR IEA’S TO JOIN SEA-UNITE
SEA-Unite have won significant improvements for all SkyCity workers. People who are on Individual Agreements will get many of these passed on to them. If everyone had been in the union we could have got an even better deal. We want all those on IEA’s to join SEA-Unite so we can be in the strongest position to negotiate future improvements. We will also be able to give you effective representation if you have any problems during the term of the agreement. We still have negotiations for salaried staff so now’s the time to join and have your voice heard.
